Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia is a medical condition characterized by chronic pain in muscles surrounding structures, which are also unusually tender to touch. Symptoms accompanying the pain may include: fatigue, dysfunctional sleep, headaches, numbness & tingling, joint pains, memory & concentration difficulties, IBS, irritable bladder, depression, sensitivity to cold, and a swelling sensation of the hands. While the fibromyalgia diagnosis has been challenging for decades, as have effective treatments for it, massage therapy is agreed by many health professionals to benefit those who suffer. Many are very sensitive to touch and light pressure is all that many patients are comfortable with.
